In animation we looked at how when pictures that show images with small variations move quickly one after the other, the image would look like it's moving. Our assignment for today was to draw a caricature of ourselves morning into an animal and then our animal morphing into the caricature of the person next to us.
I was really excited about this project. Laurence warned us however that we had to keep our characters simple because we had to draw them quickly. I thought that I had kept mine simple enough but soon learned that it was far too complicated as drawing took forever. On the first day I had only been able to finish 15 out of the 60 drawings that we had to do. The next day went a little easier though, as I was drawing my pictures, I reduced the amount of lines so that it all looked simpler. This made my work go quicker, as well as the use of a light box. Unfortunately though I ran out of paper so I'll have to finish that today. I'm about half way through now, so hopefully it won't be too long now before I can upload my images. I have to say, drawing each picture out is a rather tedious job, but I am extremely curious to see the final outcome.
One problem that I found that I ran into is that my animal, which was meant to look like a kangaroo looks like an alien Chihuahua. But that's ok, I'll just go with it. It looks kind of cool. If I had to change it though to look more like a kangaroo, I'de elongate the face more, sharpen the features, and make the ears more slender.
