Judy Collins
Causeway to the Mount
This piece by Judy Collins is located in a small art gallery in St. Ives. This painting makes me feel isolated among nature. The artist accomplishes this feeling of hard isolation by by painting one mountain with few other feature other than it's singular point as the focus point in the painting. The hardship comes out as she uses a lot of movement in her brush strokes when she painted the sand, the ocean and the sky. they all lean towards the right side of the painting. The mountain however remains relatively sturdy in it's position but begins to falter as indicated by the slight slope of the left of the mountain. More sky and sea has been used than wain thus creating a vastness to the painting again highlighting the isolation of the mountain.

This sculpture of balloons holding onto a frame makes me feel like when I was a child I was always trying to get away and yearned for in dependancy but was tied to my parents. Other aspects of this exhibition maid me feel the swim way, such as a 3D piece of ball pit balls tied agains the wall by rope and a glowing yellow square held suspended in the sky by rope. Some of the balloons had already begun to deflate so that if you were to set them free they would just end up falling to the ground. If children were given more independence they could have gone further.

This piece by Abi Taylor is a painting of a kitchen table. If you were to walk into an Abi Taylor exhibition you would find that much of her work has a similar style and thus she was able to brand herself well. Man of her pieces consist of a composition done of a kitchen table with a few objects; either a detailed branded bottle of something found in a kitchen or a vase of flowers or both. Her paintings always seemed to be washed away a little and certain objects are more detailed than other objects. It makes me feel like I'm sitting in an old ocean cottage because of the washed affect and that majority of her paintings are mostly white.
This is an advanced technical drawing done by a cornish artist featured in the Crypt Gallery. The drawing shows immense skill n mark making. The bricks one the wall aren't all shown but are instead used as a way to shade the building in and create form. To distinguish between the many components, this artist shading and texture. He kept the sky open as not to overwhelm the image, but the castle takes up most of the space so as to highlight the enormousness of this structure. Far away objects have little detail to create a sense of depth. But the objects at the bottom of the drawing aren't focused on much either because the viewer often only looks at the centre of the page where the arts has added a large dark tree to begin the movement of the eye.

Euphrates
This small painting by Gareth Edwards contains what looks like a small Island of trees among a vast blue ocean. However because this painting is so hazy , different images can be seen. The Island of trees could be a house, the dark patch at the bottom right could be rock from an Island or coral underwater, the son at the top left could be the moon and the light brown at the bottom left could be shallow waters, a reflection or the sand. It is as if Edwards attempted incorporate his experiences of visiting the ocean all into one smoothly blurred painting. This painting makes me feel like I'm looking at something surreal, this was accomplished by the blurred affects.
