Today we had to look at textile design and what fabric can do. I was really inspired the amazing structures of Avant Guard clothes and even though it isn't something completely different, I like the idea of combining something that looks like it might be delicate and make it into a wearable, structural thing. So I played around with snowflake designs and designs from what looks like the cut outs of leather in tribal areas and am building a garment. I've decided not to sketch out a design, but rather be playful with it so that I might experiment with the different fabrics and see what comes of it. So far I am enjoying the concept of fashion design, I am a little afraid though, I'm not sure I have the personality to deal with people that work in the fashion industry. |
The Evolution of my idea
1) I cut up pieces of paper and found that created an interactive tribal pattern
2) I cut out pieces that reminded me of the pattern from leather tribal shoes
3) I found that they looked quite good with bright vibrant colours, but couldn't find any so just used another fabric as a placeholder
