I did not find it difficult at all to spend my day at Museum Island. All of the museums are surrounded by sophisticated roman gardens with black statues. One statue was of Hercules fighting a lion. Because Hercules had a smooth, muscelly figure the lion contrasted with textured fur that moved in such a way that it looked like he was attacking fire. My favorite Museum was the Neus Museum, which contained the ancient artifacts. I loved looking at the various ancient civilizations and how they lived. Their mythologies, their homes, what they wore, the objects they used, the things they did and saw, the stories. Even if everything is old, there is something new and exciting about it.
I've been very inspired by they Egyptian, Viking and Persian culture. I would like to study some of the hyrogliphics and how they looked related to how they sounded. I also like how everything these people made was made to last. They were made from stones and clays and other materials connected to nature which I also love. It makes me think that most of what we make today is not made, but rather produced and manufactured. The materials are not natural and are sure to be destroyed soon after we decide we don't want them anymore. Objects have lost a certain type of meaning to us.
